A Trip to remember

My Trip to India was full of adventures but one of the most adventurous was the trip to Munnar. There were lot of plans to visit North/Karnataka and finally it was decided that we'll visit kerala....Our plan was to go to Guruvayur, Munnar and Thekkady and then come back. We did not go through a travel agent as our trip was decided in the last minute. From there the fun started...Guruvayur was a whooping 24 hour journey from chennai and we started early morning. My cousin (well...she is as close as my own sis..) and her mom were supposed to join us later in the evening at Tiruchy...I was kinda bored with all adult talk going on around me...so took my book and started reading....My mom is the most fun person to be with when it comes to going on trips like these....I got to eat everything I wanted and we even played for sometime...then bugged my dad..with "Talk to me pa" cliche....(well he would have been vexed with this sentence ) by the time I left India :D....and well pretty much the journey was boring...My cousin came in the evening and we had a lotta fun togather...chattering away non-stop....hehe...the usual girl talk...and guess what my mom and aunt joined us too....awwww....poooor daddy....i know how guys must feel when they are left all alone...without anyone to talk to :P...We went to sleep late as I wanted to spend all the time i could with my family..and in my dream I could hear someone screaming at me....whoa...I got up only to find that it wasnt a dream...my mom was screaming at me and that the station had already arrived and I was still cozily sleepin with my blanket on...haha...All were up and running.I took my blanket and got down with it...well naturally got some blank stares from almost everyone in the station ... only to realize how terrible i looked.

We checked into some hotel...as we were planning to leave to Munnar immediately after the darshan. Then came the worst part...we cudn wear salwar to the temple...cos of the rules that they have...i ended up wearing a saree....and believe me it was very difficult to walk around in that crowd wearing a saree...thankfully my cousin had done a pretty good job on me and I managed to walk in n around the temple....for more than 2 hrs (Yaaaaaay)...Finally tired we got back to the room and my mom suddenly found her mobile missing.....and we ended up searching for it for about 2 hours...it was getting late to and so we finally decided to leave..)I was actually happy cos that mobile was getting too old..and i wanted her to get one of the latest but she wudn agree)

Finding a cab was another tough thing...finally managed to find a cab to drive us to Munnar....we started at about 3:30 and hoped to reach there by 7:30 as it was only 180kms from Guruvayur...only to realize how wrong I was...By god that was one of the worst journeys I'd ever undertaken....It wasnt as fun as being in the train...and I was waiting to get out of that car...My motion sickness was getting worse....we started climbing the mountain...and it was full of hairpin bends...the minutes dragged by very slowly and finally it was 7:30....I only looked at the time and not at the distance covered...When it was 7:30 i asked the driver...are we there yet and he was like it will take atleast 2 hours to go to Munnar.....All of us were shocked....I felt like we were going into some kind of a maze and an unkown monster was to appear out of the darkness and grab us all.....It was pitch dark...we dint know the way to the hotel we were heading to....communicating with the driver was another problem...and there seemed to be no house in vicinity....I was scared for a moment that I'd die right there without seeing light. Needless to say my motion sickness was at its peak. I felt like gettin down for a while and taking a walk but was too scared..(I'd never been scared of darkness before...but this was the only time when i craved to see light). To top it all...my mom started complaining...as to why I chose this place for vacation...she was concerned as it was getting late and we werent getting any closer...I even suspected if the driver was taking us to the proper place or was planning to rob us and leave us desolate....the very thought sent a shiver through me.....All I could hear was my mother's blah blah as i wasnt listening to her anymore.....I was in my own world caught up in motion sickness...(maybe i should call it mountain sickness)...and all unfounded fears...finally we reached the hotel at about 10:30....that driver was very sweet....and how rude of me to think that he was gonna...cheat us..Finally we did reach Munnar...the next day went off very well....and the most surprising thing was that my mom found her mobile...and it was in my bag....Nooooooo...I did not take it...and I have no idea as to how it came there...:P

It was a very good place for nature lovers...and it brought out the photographer in me :D....exotic locales. It was the most beautiful place I'd ever been too.in the morning..and the most terrifying in the night (Light can change everything upside down). Went boating and visited many places...hogged on carrots n corn n almost everything that i could get on the way....and finally ended up having a Great time....Though I enjoyed the trip completely...I kinda felt we were at the wrong place at the wrong time....We couldn see any family there...all that were there were Honeymoon couples...well...they were having a swell time :P.....Rest went off well as planned.....I did mixed feelings about this trip...cos I'm always "either good or bad" kinda person..and i had my best and worst experiences on the same trip...at the turn of daylight...well it happens at times....I'd probably never go back to that place again...in the future....as climbing up to Munnar was the most dreadful experience....but sure did have a once in a lifetime experience :)...I guess I have to stop my rambling with this.....The pictures from this trip are uploaded in Flickr...Enjoy them :)
