One Quick post which is a resultant of one quick thought that I had over the past week after reading a book....I was thinking in the lines of how one should handle criticism, revenge etc when you actually get to that stage of handling that kind of a situation....there are two different sections to my discussion here.
It has almost become a universal truth that if one likes something then that particular thing goes away from them...as they say anything that is pursued flees away from us and anything that we look down upon with contempt comes to us and falls in our hands...hence it is always easier to get things by pretending to depreciate the value of something...it is so much more easier to attain them than to take the straight path in obtaining them. For example lets take an improbable situation wherein all the girls (and some guys) lose interest in gold and anything that has to do with it and stop buying then its value will go down very badly that even the poorest of the poor will be able to afford it...such is the power of depreciation......and its the same case with a celebrity...the attitude of the people towards things or people brings its value higher or lower in the long run...but should we really care about it??? My question here is that is the worth of a person in similar sense decided by people around him...Ideally speaking I wudn accept that argument as everyone in this world have their own set of attributes that make them unique and special...but we know that...what about the world and the society?? what if it doesnt agree with that??..so are we puppets in the hands of the society???...but society is made of the same people....so everyone is a puppet in everyone else's hands??? hmmmmmm...I have no idea.
Another thing I wanted to discuss here is about revenge...when you want to take revenge on someone what is the best way to do it???lets say if I have a grudge on some big shot and I dont have the power to go in the straight path, beat him in his own hood and get even with him...so what do I do ??? I boldly stand as his opponent and try to disparage his name in all possible ways and hence that notoriety itself brings me to fame (Well guys this is just hypothetical...I havent done anything of that sort in the past...or will do anything like that in future...but it seems so easy...doesnt it???...Maybe thats why wiser people say "Things that come easier dont last longer" :))....this is a case where it is harmless contempt or a subtle form of revenge but how are terrorists formed??? It is almost the same concept...Someone wants revenge for their happenings in life and hence they want to do something that might terrorize the whole world and in that process terrorizing the few people who were intentionally or unintentionally responsible for that unfortunate incident in their life.....What they dont realize is that by doing this they are going to be responsible for similar unfortunate incidents in others' life and are going to make other's life as miserable as theirs..when they try to destroy someone...with that contempt....the same contempt will be shown on them as a resultant of their actions when it harms people other than those intended...I came across this picture when I was readin my friends blog (Thanks Keshi).

Baghdad - Mohammed Saleem, 18 months, lies in a coffin at a Sadr City morgue. Relatives said the boy and four other family members were killed in their car when U.S. forces opened fire overnight. (Photo by Karim Kadim, June 6, 2004).
My Heart just went out for this kid who was shot when the US forces opened fire...when I first saw this picture I was wondering as to what kind of a brutal joke this is and why would people let a kid sleep in the coffin and take a picture of that and give it a pulitzer prize on the top of that....and was completely shocked when I actually saw the picture closely....my heart went out for that kid who was ready to face this world with all his innocence and it was snatched from him by these Reckless fools.
Again lots of questions but many unanswered....:)
To end this post on a lighter note...enjoy this wonderful and expressive song sung by Hariharan :)

The first question is more than answered by Ayn Rand in more than convincing way. Worth of something is not the worth of it in absolute terms..Gold would care less whether you buy it for 1000$ or for 500000$. Its the individual who assigns worth to things. If you read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged or even The Fountain Head, you would know what I mean. Hopefully you have already read them- the "love" affair between Howard Roark and Dominique. Infact, the rationale behind Dominique is what you are trying to understand. How I wish, the world is as black and white as Ayn sees it. Unfortunately, it might be gray precisely because we see it in Gray...Questions..as usual..none can answer with any authority..But atleast there are people to ask them!..Nice post..
Great post Priti.

And yes, thx also for that wonderful Hariharan melody...

Krish - Thanks.....I thought i did start liking Ayn Rand when I started reading "The Fountain Head" ....but objectivism is not for me...I m a plain human being who thrives on emotions and attachments...and I do have a feeling that if I am too objective in everything I do I will be left all alone in the world....and I prefer to see Life in RGB than in B&W or Gray. :P :)
Keshi - Thanks...yes I completely agree with you...thanks again for the picture :)
